Fear

Fear is a natural reaction to danger. We can think of fear as a survival signal that switches on our fight or flight response. Everyone will experience fear at some point in their lives. However, experiencing excessive fear can cause some people to remain on constant high alert. This constant hypervigilance can impact both the body and mind, resulting in a range of anxiety disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorders, Phobias, and panic attacks. Symptoms are these include:

  • Flashbacks

  • Nightmares

  • Pain, sweating and nausea or vomiting

  • Intrusive thoughts

  • Physical or emotional reactions to a reminder of the trauma, being part of the senses or memory.
