Stressed Man

Stress is how your body responds physically, mentally and emotionally, to anything it perceives as a threat. You can experience stress in response your environment, your body, and your thoughts. Experiencing pressure to some degree is a normal part of everyday life, but when this pressure starts to feel overwhelming and prolonged, you can experience chronic stress, which takes a toll on both your body and mind.

Therapies that help

Like anxiety, stress is caused by our thoughts about situations, rather than the situations themselves. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy works directly with the subconscious mind to lower your stress levels, by processing the thoughts that are causing you to feel stressed.

Your Solution Focused Hypnotherapist can help you to you to shift your focus towards getting your emotional needs met, and uses hypnosis so that you can process ideas for positive change and discover your own way of taking small steps towards preventing and overcoming stress.

Counselling provides you with a space to talk through your situation, which can help you to recognise and understand any underlying issues that may be causing your stress. Your counsellor can then help you to identify your personal stress triggers and find ways of coping that work for you.

Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for stress. While stress activates the sympathetic nervous system, acupuncture can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which initiates the relaxation response. Acupuncture alleviates stress by releasing chemicals in the brain called endorphins and reducing stress chemicals such as cortisol and adrenaline. The calming experience of acupuncture also decreases heart rate, lowers blood pressure and relaxes the muscles.

Narrative coaching looks at the story surrounding an action or lack of action, exploring the words the client uses and where the root of the issue might lie. Being forward focused we will discover practical applications for this information and if desired set a focused plan in place to achieve change.
