About Me

I am passionate about breaking down barriers around mental health and mental ill health, to encourage change and an open, connected and kinder culture. I facilitate interactive mental health first aid training and awareness courses to help build resilience, and encourage a non-judgemental approach to listening.

Motivated for change as a result of teenage trauma and inspired by the outdoors, I have led youth groups across the UK, Africa and Asia and became guinness world record holder as part of the first all female polar expedition in 1997. Continued professional development in social science and positive psychology.

I have developed my experience in business and education to provide a safe space for those who may be confused or inexperienced to help someone with a mental health issue. Supporting others to be able to spot signs of mental ill health and support someone until professional help arrives.

The MHFA courses are robust and evidence-based learning experiences to provide support and information around mental health and mental illness:-
- to prevent a condition worsening;
- to promote recovery,
- to raise mental health literacy in communities
- reduce stigma and discrimination
- to create a backpack of resource for your own
self care and wellbeing.

The courses I run are interactive and facilitated for up to 16 delegates. I can run in house for senior and line management and teams and also open courses. (For example last week I had 3 airline pilots, a priest, a psychologist and 2 senior managers within the IT sector)!! It’s available to all because we all have mental health.

We start our learning by exploring language, perspective, frame of reference, the mental health continuum and explore how to identify and manage stress and appropriate coping strategies to help build resilience.

It’s a great opportunity to be able to spot the signs of someone either in early stages of mental illness or if someone is experiencing crisis through panic attacks or trauma, or talking of suicide, whether they are experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, psychosis, we provide the knowledge to spot the signs and the confidence to know what to do and how to support an individual towards hope and recovery.

The following courses are now available for 12-16 delegates online and face to face when COVid available:

2 day Adult Mental Health First Aid (dedicated to age 18+ open to all)
2 day Youth Mental Health First Aid (dedicated to those who support age 8-18)
½ day Youth Mental Health awareness
½ day Adult Mental Health awareness
